What Can I Expect At A Checkup Appointment?
At a check up appointment your dentist will normally take radiographs (x-rays), carry out periodontal (gum) monitoring, decay and cancer checks and your dentist and/or hygienist will give you appropriate advice as necessary depending on their findings. Unless you are in pain we will not normally carry our any dental treatment (fillings etc.) at your check up appointment.
We believe regular check ups are the best way for you to keep your teeth for life and keep dental treatment to a minimum. We believe regular check ups will keep overall financial costs down and damage to your teeth to a minimum.
At regular check ups we can monitor the health of your mouth (keep it clear from cancers, infections etc.) your teeth (free of decay, broken teeth, dental abscesses etc.) and your gums (free of gum disease, bad breath and tooth loss). We can give you appropriate preventative advice and ensure what you are doing is working.
We believe ensuring dental and oral health is a two way process. If you attend regularly and follow the advice we give you, we believe you will need very little treatment.
Our aim is to ensure that your oral and dental health is of the highest level, however, it is a two way process – you do not have to follow our advice ….. so we also restore heavily broken down and damaged mouths in a non-judgmental way!
